We headed off on June 29th from Hamburg Airport. 11 hours flight to Los Angeles. Our destination: Kauai, Hawaii on the next day from Phoenix Airport, but we´ll stop by at my best friends in Trabuco Canyon and drive to Phoenix from there. Next stop: Trabuco Canyon.
Arrived in Los Angeles, wonderful warm weather, maybe a little bit too warm. Picking up our rental car took a while...Finally in our rental car, trying to find something to eat...
somewhere in Inglewood... Ah, there is something we know... but it was not that easy as one could think to get 2 cheeseburger and 2 coffee.. except you speak Spanish!? Are we in USA? Wasn´t it English they speak here??? oO
After a long ride through the most beautiful hilly mountain-view we arrived in Trabuco Canyon. Finally!
It was nice to be with my best friend, but now we´re heading to Santa Ana, John Wayne Airport and take a flight to Phoenix...Getting out of the airport felt like entering a full heated oven... We rushed strait back to the air conditioned Airport.
Stucked at Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport, Starbucks rocks: good coffee, free Wifi... Several planes to Kauai, Hawaii were cancelled because of rough wind conditions, no way to get there the next 3-4 days... calling my friend to go back to Trabuco Canyon...
We rented a car and still on the Highway I gave my friend a call that we decided to stay over night somewhere on the way before we would cross the desert next morning.
My friend stopped us immediatly... if we would have driven only one mile more, we couldn´t have stopped for 80 miles... having been stucked somewhere in the desert with only one and a half bottles of water. That was really a last second decision..
Our first stop in the desert. Right after opening the cars door, we regretted immediatly to have opened them... It was incredibly hot, over 50 degrees C... we didn´t stay long, we couldnt..
A blueish sign welcomed us: poisonous snakes and insects inhabit the area.. we took shelter in the shadow area, watched a lizard, but we had to go on, there was still so much desert to cross.. miles and miles desert.. back in Trabuco Canyon..
